Fitting into the high school scene isn’t easy for Wynter. Hiding away from the spotlight, she finds comfort in the rustling pages of a good book. Come home time, her trusted keyboard breathes music into her lonely days.

But when Lucas barges himself into her life, unafraid to speak his mind, Wynter’s quiet existence takes a sudden halt. Sharing the same passions, Lucas becomes the best friend Wynter never knew she needed.

Together, they can be themselves and have full certainty that their friendship is as timeless as the notes they play on the keyboard. A perfect harmony.

However, their once serene world makes an unexpected turn, without warning. Wynter finds herself facing a reality she never wanted, a stage she never sought.

Navigating each passing day with a cloud looming over her head and deep heartache was never part of the melody. But life doesn’t play by the music sheet and sometimes the spotlight isn’t a choice.

In this unpredictable symphony of life, the next note is always a heartbeat away.

Pieces of You is a beautifully written, touching YA novel about the platonic friendship between the teens Wynter and Lucas. This books shows us how a good friend can have a profound and lasting impact on your life. It tells a tale of high school bullies, friendship, loss, grief, love and finding strength and confidence within oneself.

I can not recommend this book enough. It took me on an emotional journey that left me feeling warm and fuzzy, but also sad. If I could reread this book for the first time again, I absolutely would!

  2. Belinda Wheeler

This one will pull at your heart strings.

Wynter spoke to my teenage self and took me straight back to that time navigating my awkwardness and dealing with bullies, finding solace in books.

Her friendship with Lucas is something special……

Beautifully and sensitively written. I love a good YA and I’m so glad I got the chance to read this one.
It holds its own against the big name authors.

  3. Heather

I absolutely loved this book. I related to Wynter from the first page. This book had me crying in several spots. If you want a book that brings back the highs and lows of high school, this is 100% for you. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Pieces of you by Glaiza De Leon is a touching story that captures the depth of friendship and the heartache of loss. Winter, a high school girl who finds comfort in books and music, finds a kindred spirit in Lucas. Their bond is a beautiful reminder of the strength and warmth that true friendship can bring.
As Wynter and Lucas navigate their high school days, you will find yourself rooting for them, feeling the warmth of their connection. However, this story is about the unpredictable turns that life takes, the moments of loss and grief that we all fear but must face.
Wynter’s journey becomes a symphony of emotions, especially when the music of life doesn’t follow the script you had in mind.
Glaiza De Leon captures the essence of growing up the raw emotions of losing someone dear and the courage to continue forward.
This story will make you remember your own friendship, the ones that helped shape who you are today, and the bitter-sweet reality that some people leave a permanent imprint on our hearts.
Pieces of you is not just a book, it is a reflection on the irreplaceable value of true friendship and the personal growth that comes from heartache. It will stay with you long after you turn the last page, a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always a note of hope waiting to be played and that we are never truly alone.
    Highly recommend that book !!!

    4.25 stars.
Pieces of You is such a beautiful and touching story. I doubt that anyone could read it and feel nothing. This book had me tearing up the majority of the way through.
It’s a raw story about the multitudes of grief and the value of friendship, and it “challenges the conventional notion that romantic love is paramount during high school.”
This is a slower-paced book in which the reader joins Wynter on her grieving journey. Glaiza did a fantastic job of capturing not only Wynter’s grief but also the grief of other characters and how each was affected differently.
This is a perfect story for anyone who likes contemporary YA stories that deal with heavier themes.

I received an advance readers copy from the author at no cost but all opinions are my own.
